Trust me—you really don’t know what you’re missing.
Here’s the list of funny pills that Bill read on the air last night. These pills are made just for women.
With the federal government ratcheting up fuel economy, the Competitive Enterprise Institute reminds us that according to a 2001 National Academy of Sciences report (press release), CAFE-induced downsizing contributes to 1,300 to 2,600 vehicle deaths a year.
Several times in the past, Bill Wattenburg has told vegetarian callers an interesting fact they did not know—that some plants release volitale chemicals when attacked by animals or viruses. I just came across an old clipping I had saved on just this topic: —Keep the Aspirin Flying“, from the January 1998 issue of Discover Magazine describes how tobacco plants use aspirin to stimulate the immunie system of the attacked and nearby plants.
According to Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) in the Seattle Times, “He’s been out in these countries for decades, building schools, building roads, building infrastructure, building day-care facilities, building health-care facilities, and the people are extremely grateful. We haven’t done that,” Murray said.
Bill was once asked about radical liberal talk-show hosts who fill the airwaves with nonsense babble. His answer:
Very few working and thinking people listen to them. They are only ‘screeching to the pissy choir’ that wants to blame someone else for their own failures—or knock the country that feeds them.
A couple of calls came in regarding bar codes—and UPC bar codes in particular. The caller with the answers got most of it right, but confused Bill a little and did not actually answer the first caller’s question. How Stuff Works has a good primer on UPC bar codes, and the Bar Code FAQ has pictures of the common formats. Good summaries are also here and here.
