Bill Wattenburg’s Open Line to the West Coast
This site is dedicated to my favorite late-night talk-show, The Open
Line to the West Coast (KGO Radio,
810 AM), and its host, Dr. Bill Wattenburg.
I created it as a resource for collecting and saving some of the information
presented on his show, both by him and by his listeners.
- Archived Links
- Archives of links related to interesting topics brought up on past radio
shows.
- The Bill Wattenburg Glossary
- Properly defines misunderstood words and phrases in his vocabulary.
- Q&A Archive
- Occasionally updated, this is a list of questions that Bill is asked
repeatedly (or ones that I found particularly interesting), complete with
questions. If you have a Q&A pair that you would like to see added to the
list, please send me an e-mail.
- Health and Safety
- Important information about your health and safety that Bill occasionally
mentions on the show, but which deserves a permanent archive.
- Science Links
- A collection of Web sites covering interesting aspects of science, many of
them regarding topics that have been discussed on the show.
- Past Guests
- A list of notable people that have appeared as guests or guest hosts on
Bill’s program.
- Old Shows
- At one point, I thought it would be useful to write a synopsis of the
highlights of each and every one of Bill’s radio programs, due to the
interesting and useful calls he receives in every single show. That effort
didn’t last too long, but reading these summaries will give you a flavor of
Bill’s show if you haven’t heard it before, and you might find some
interesting or useful information in them.
- Dr. Bill’s bio
- A direct link to Bill’s page on the KGO-AM 810 Web site.
- The Story of Andy the Cowboy.
- This is a 15-minute recording from Bill’s show with a pair of calls from a
Nevada rancher who had fallen for a woman that lived in LA and happened to
come across him while roaming the countryside mulling over a failed romance.
One of the best love stories I’ve heard.

Bill has authored a joke book, which is a compilation of jokes told to him
over the years on the radio. You can order “Best
Jokes From Talk Radio” from the C. Crane
Company, and you can call them at 1-800-522-8863 (TUNE).
