JACKSON—Assemblyman Rico Oller and Senator Tim Leslie, who represent constituents in Amador as well as other counties, have both declined to get involved in the 'gastankgate' case. Both have said there is "nothing we can do" and cite the separation of powers between legislative and judicial areas of government.

Dave Butler of Leslie's office said they will assume a "hands off" attitude and leave the matter to the court.

Oller said yesterday that "although I am very concerned about federal and state investigators, it's in the court's hands now."

"We'll look at whether it is a good law. And whether it is good enforcement." If it needs changing, he said, he'll work on it.

"Unless I know an injustice has occurred, I'm not going to get involved."
