Violation Description: Petroleum spill into waterway
COMMENTS:
at 0930 on 1/16/99, Environmental Health was notified by Sheriff Dispatch of a
petroleum spill into the drainage channel in the Brunswick Basin. EH staff was
onsite at 1000 and observed what appeared to be gasoline in surface water which
flows under Brunswick Rd. behind Keepsake Jewelers. Booms and absorbent pads
were distributed along stream by Fire Dept personnel while source was being
identified. Petroleum was followed upstream in surface water and found in a
storm drain between Jim Keil Chevrolet and CHP. The CHP site is being
investigated as a possible source due to known gasoline contamination at the
site associated with an underground storage tank. A site assessment is required
to determine the extend of contamination. All appropriate notifications have
been made. Water sample results are pending.
The drainage channel eventually flows into Wolf Creek at Idaho Maryland Rd. and
Sutton Way.
