Save the Russian Nuns’ Property

A group of elderly nuns who simply want to build a convent on land they own has been harassed by the Mid-Peninsula Regional Open Space District (MROSD), who at one point was attempting to take their land by eminent domain (perhaps even running counter to the board’s own policies regarding its use), had reached an agreement to stop the taking, but is now pulling strings to prevent them from building their convent/retreat.

Here’s a great idea that might help the nuns and other property owners:

Run for office to join the MROSD board of directors! There are several vacancies coming up in the next set of elections. I’ll have more information on which seats and how to run soon.

There are other things you can do to help their cause:

• Complain to the MROSD; they even have a nice feedback form you can use (or e-mail them at mrosd@openspace.org).
